How to Prepare for Your Concealed Carry Class


You’ve registered for your Colorado Concealed Carry Course—excellent move. Whether you’re brand new to shooting or looking to formalize your skills, showing up prepared will make your day safer, smoother, and more enjoyable.

This quick guide covers what to bring, what to expect, and how to make the most out of your training day at PLC Training.


What to Bring to Class

Here’s your updated essential gear checklist:

Required:

  • Firearm (UNLOADED when you arrive)

  • Eye Protection

  • Ear Protection

  • At least 2 pistol magazines

  • 250 rounds of ammunition (for your firearm of choice)

  • Speed Loader - This will save your thumbs as you reload

  • Bring your lunch (We will eat at the range. No time for offsite breaks.)

Optional but Recommended:

  • Gun Cleaning Kit

  • Water

  • Snacks

  • Folding Chair (for comfort during breaks)

  • Notebook (for law & safety notes)

  • Sunscreen

  • Hat (for shade and brass deflection)

💡 If you don’t yet own a firearm, we have rental options available—just contact us ahead of time.

What to Expect on Training Day

Here’s how your course will flow:

  1. Check-In, Paperwork & Safety Briefing

  2. Colorado Law Overview(Use-of-force, concealed carry zones, legal responsibilities)

  3. Stop the Bleed Training(Tourniquet use, wound packing, compression bandaging)

  4. Pistol Parts, Function & Dry-Fire Drills(Grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control)

  5. Live-Fire Skill Progression(Every drill builds on the last—accuracy first, then speed)

  6. Lunch + Written Test

  7. Speed & Accuracy Integration Drills

  8. Movement & Shooting

  9. Final Drill & Certificate Ceremony

Expect a full day of learning, on the range. The environment is professional but relaxed—safe, supportive, and fun for shooters at any level.


Extra Tips for Success

  • Get a good night’s sleep—focus is key.

  • Hydrate & eat breakfast—you’ll be on your feet much of the day.

  • Don’t worry if you’re new—we specialize in building confidence, not shaming inexperience.

  • Ask questions! The more you engage, the more you’ll take away.
