Your Guide to Taking the PLC Training
Colorado Concealed Carry Course with Confidence
If you’re preparing to take your first concealed carry class, it’s normal to feel excited—and maybe a little unsure about what the day will look like. At PLC Training, our goal is to create a safe, relaxed, and structured learning environment where every skill builds logically on the previous one, whether you are brand new or an experienced shooter.
Here’s what a typical Concealed Carry Certification Course looks like from start to finish.
1. Paperwork and Safety Briefing
We begin the day with registration paperwork and a comprehensive safety briefing. Safety is the foundation of everything we do, and this initial briefing ensures every student understands range procedures, firearm handling expectations, and the structure of the day.
2. Colorado Law and Legal Responsibilities
Next, we cover Colorado concealed carry and use‑of‑force law, including:
When deadly force is legally justified
Interaction with law enforcement
Legal responsibilities of concealed carriers
Situational awareness and avoidance
Understanding the law is just as important as knowing how to shoot.
3. Stop the Bleed Medical Training
Every responsible armed citizen should also know how to save a life after a traumatic injury. During the course, students complete Stop the Bleed training, including practical hands‑on instruction in:
Tourniquet application
Wound packing
Compression bandaging
These lifesaving skills apply far beyond the range and are valuable for everyday emergencies.
4. Pistol Parts, Operation, and Dry‑Fire Fundamentals
We then move into handgun fundamentals:
Pistol parts and operation
Safe loading and unloading procedures
Proper stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger press
Students begin with dry‑fire practice on the shooting line, allowing them to develop solid fundamentals before firing live rounds.
5. Live‑Fire Skill Building
Once students are comfortable with the fundamentals, we transition to live‑fire drills, where each skill builds progressively throughout the day:
Accuracy fundamentals
Recoil control
Shot consistency
Practical shooting skills
At lunch, we take a break to eat and complete the written exam, allowing students time to relax before continuing the afternoon session.
6. Accuracy + Speed Integration
After lunch, training progresses from pure accuracy into controlled speed drills, helping students learn how to shoot both fast and accurately—a critical defensive skill.
As the day concludes, students participate in movement and shooting drills, applying the skills they learned earlier in more dynamic exercises.
7. Final Drill and Certificate Presentation
We close the course with a final skills drill followed by our certificate ceremony, where students receive their official training certificates required for their Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit application.
A Learning Environment Designed for Everyone
Our classes are designed to be:
Safe
Professional
Relaxed
Fun
Conducive to learning
Whether you are a first‑time gun owner or someone with years of experience, you will leave the course with stronger skills, greater confidence, and a clear understanding of responsible concealed carry.
